Hong Kong's first five-year plan focuses on seizing development opportunities

[Hong Kong China News Service, 1st] This morning, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government held a reception at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre to celebrate the 77th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

On that day, the conference hall of the Exhibition Center was newly decorated. National and regional flags hung on both sides of the venue, and the stage was mainly decorated in red, purple, and gold, adorned with flowers, creating a festive and harmonious atmosphere. Before the cocktail party began, harmonica soloist Li Junle, together with violinist Wang Liang, pianist Zha Hailun, and more than twenty children from the small drum and harmonica team, performed a suite adapted from "Fengyang Flower Drum," "Colorful Clouds Chasing the Moon," "General's Command," and "Chinese People."

The front hall of the venue is decorated and exhibits an aerospace theme of 'Sharing the Dream of Spaceflight · Contributing to National Rejuvenation.' Inside the exhibition hall, models of China's first lunar rover Yutu, the Tianyun camera, the Tiangong space station, and the Shenzhou manned spacecraft attract guests to visit and take photos.

Li Jiaying sends blessings from Tiangong

Hong Kong SAR's first astronaut, LEE Ka-Ying, is carrying out missions at China's 'Tiangong' space station, recording videos at the space station to offer gratitude and blessings to the motherland. LEE Ka-Ying stated that personally participating in the country's manned space missions has made her deeply feel the soaring strength of the nation. She wishes the motherland magnificent landscapes and long-lasting prosperity, and hopes for the prosperity and stability of Hong Kong and Macau, with the 'One Country, Two Systems' principle being implemented steadily and enduringly.

In his speech, John Lee reviewed the historic leap of the Chinese nation over the past seventy-seven years, from standing up, to becoming prosperous, to becoming strong; he also said that when Hong Kong formulated its first five-year plan, it was seizing national opportunities, planning proactively, creating more development achievements, and benefiting the citizens.

He introduced the six major aspects of the plan, covering economic development, spatial layout, internal and external connections, improvement of people’s livelihoods, and risk prevention and control, forming a complete and interconnected system; the three distinctive features include catering to Hong Kong's uniqueness, adhering to the "one country, two systems" principle, and clearly defining Hong Kong's international positioning. At the core of the plan is to leverage Hong Kong’s advantages of internal and external connectivity: on one hand, relying on the driving force of the country's development for stable support; on the other hand, connecting to global resources through an international platform to achieve two-way interaction.

John Lee cited a famous quote from Liu An's 'Huainanzi · Mastering Techniques' of the Han Dynasty, emphasizing the importance of gathering collective wisdom: 'Where accumulated strength is directed, nothing cannot be overcome; where the wisdom of the multitude is applied, nothing cannot be accomplished.'

He stated that the SAR government acts on its words, plans comprehensively for the long term, opens new chapters through reform, promotes development and creates opportunities, and benefits the people's livelihood for the future. He is confident that as long as everyone works together diligently in their respective positions and exerts their collective strength, Hong Kong will surely have a bright and limitless future. The Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Leung Chun-ying, heads of central government agencies stationed in Hong Kong, principal officials of the SAR government, and people from various sectors of society attended the reception.
