A couple on a hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti in Tanzania captured footage of lions creeping to hunt a herd of wildebeests, with hundreds of wildebeests running simultaneously. The video has accumulated over five million views online and has been described as "both cruel and beautiful."
Couple in Hot Air Balloon Watches Wildebeest Herd Try to Outrun a Lion
Sometimes in life, you’re lucky enough to be in the right place at exactly the right time to witness something most people will never see. That’s what happened to Reshma (@reshmaabi1) and her husband during a hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti, and you have to see it to believe it.
While scanning the savanna below, they spotted a herd of wildebeest during migration. What they didn’t notice right away was a lion stalking the herd. But the moment the wildebeest realized a predator was nearby, they began to run. If you didn’t know what was happening on the ground beneath the balloon, you’d simply be mesmerized by the sight; it almost looks like a piece of moving art.
Reshma called the experience “One of the most surreal moments from our safari in Tanzania,” and it’s definitely one for the record books. What an incredible moment to witness!

Reshma’s video quickly went viral, racking up more than 5 million views and thousands of comments. @AAC won nearly 98,000 likes when they pointed out, “It’s crazy because if they all ran at the lion, they could kill the lion.” @Mr.kelvin replied, “Survival of the fittest,” and another commenter added, “You don’t have to be the fastest, just don’t be the slowest.” @pockets_of_space_2000 shared, “You’d think after millions and millions of years of evolution the wilderbeests would have developed SOME form of defense.”
@wsyd shared, “Being prey is a mentality. Imagine one lion chasing 100s of those animals. Physically, those animals can chase out the lion, but mentally they’ve programmed themselves as prey. Crazy!”

18,000 viewers agreed when @Jillian shared, “Doing this in a hot air balloon is f*cking insane!” Another commenter added, “Viewing a natural phenomenon live is an unforgettable experience!”

Watching a herd of wildebeest run from a lion from the ground would be incredible enough, but seeing it all unfold from a hot air balloon takes it to another level.

从地面上看成群的角马从狮子面前奔逃已经足够令人难以置信，但从热气球上看到这一切发生则将体验提升到了另一个层次。
