日本東部錄 1946 年以來 9 月最多雨、最少日照Eastern Japan recorded the highest rainfall and the least sunshine in September since 1946

日本氣象廳數據顯示,東部地區錄得自一九四六年有紀錄以來九月最多降雨量,同時日照時間為歷年九月最少。Data from the Japan Meteorological Agency shows that the eastern region recorded the highest rainfall in September since records began in 1946, while the sunshine hours were the least for September in history.

Eastern Japan observed its highest amount of rain for September since data became available in 1946, as well as the least sunlight for the month, the weather agency said Thursday.

Precipitation rose more than twofold and the number of hours with sunshine nearly halved compared to average, mainly due to the influence of typhoons and a stagnant autumn rain front, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency's report on the month.

The weather conditions wreaked havoc on people's lives and the country's economy, causing landslides and flooding in a wide area. The weather agency, however, predicts a far sunnier outlook in October for most of the country.

As of Wednesday, Central Tokyo registered a record 35 consecutive days of rain since Aug. 27.

Among the notable typhoons, Dujuan inflicted a great deal of damage to Chiba and Kanagawa prefectures in the capital region.
