During the 2026 National Day holiday, Hohhot City, with the main theme of 'Come to Hohhot, Unlock a Relaxing Holiday' and the sub-theme of 'Our Wonderful Life,' will launch 52 cultural and tourism activities from September 30 to October 7. Through a diverse range of offerings such as performances and exhibitions, folk experiences, food consumption, and night visits to cultural and museum sites, the city aims to promote the deep integration of agriculture, animal husbandry, culture, tourism, sports, and commerce, creating an immersive festival feast for residents and tourists, and stimulating new momentum for holiday cultural and tourism consumption.

This National Day series of activities coordinates four core venues: Saishang Old Street, Yili Smart Health Valley, Chilechuan Grassland, and Dahei River Military Culture Park, linking multiple points across the city's scenic spots, cultural and museum venues, commercial streets, and banner and county areas to create an all-region interconnected cultural and tourism layout. It balances the inheritance of traditional culture with the expression of modern trends, combines viewing experiences with benefits for public consumption, allowing the public to express their patriotism and appreciate the unique charm of cities in northern Xinjiang through a variety of colorful cultural activities.

Historic districts are being revitalized, with fireworks and intangible cultural heritage jointly painting the old city scene. The Saishang Old Street area, led by the Shaomai Food Festival, promotes a deep integration of cuisine, intangible cultural heritage, and performances. On October 1st, the Shaomai Food Festival officially launched, combining literary and artistic performances, boutique acrobatics, and the first release of consumer benefit vouchers. At night, Dazhao Square staged the 'Our Beautiful Life' music and acrobatics show, featuring national award-winning acrobatic programs such as 'High Car Flying Bowl' and 'Silk Stand', integrated with grassland regional elements like Boke and lasso poles, lighting up the old city's night economy. At Alatan Khan Square, an external cultural exchange market was set up, gathering intangible cultural heritage crafts and local specialty cultural and creative products from the entire district, with performances of the horsehead fiddle and Mongolian long song in rotation. The opening of Shaomai Food Street brought NPC interactions and street parades, creating an immersive old city atmosphere. Experts and scholars gathered to discuss the development of the Shaomai industry, deeply exploring the roots of local culinary culture.

Technology empowers performance, and patriotism lights up the night sky. From September 30 to October 2, Yili Smart Health Valley will consecutively host three free themed music nights, each paired with a light and shadow show featuring 3,000 drones, creating a new cultural landmark for the National Day holiday. During the Red Song Night, tens of thousands of people sing patriotic classics together, expressing their deep love for the country; the Sound of Time Night looks back on the changes of different eras through golden hits from various decades; and the Trendy Music Night focuses on the youth, featuring pop bands and popular songs one after another. The voices, the crowds, and the aerial light shows shine together, using modern technology to tell stories of the nation, achieving an organic combination of red culture, memories of the times, and trendy culture.

Grassland folk customs continue to be showcased, displaying the vibrant energy of frontier culture. On the Cilechuan Grassland, a live performance of 'Joyful Cilechuan' and a sunset concert are held, playing the overture of grassland culture across the vast plains. The Dahei River Military Culture Park launches 'City Naadam,' bringing traditional folk activities into the city, allowing residents to experience the charm of Mongolian traditional sports and culture nearby. Major scenic spots across the city each highlight their unique features, with the Laoniuwan Yellow River Grand Canyon cliff laser show, autumn landscapes at Hadamen Forest Park, themed carnivals at Daqingshan Wildlife Zoo, and the horse racing and barbecue festival at Aowei Ma Cultural Ecological Tourism Area taking turns to be performed, expanding the autumn travel experience.

Cultural and museum venues are opening up nighttime spaces, bringing history and culture to life. The Zhaojun Museum offers immersive night tours, the General's Yamen hosts ancient office rituals, the Five Pagodas Temple presents ancient building concerts, and the Tuchengzi Archaeological Site Park features intangible cultural heritage markets, all making their appearances one after another. The classic horse dance drama 'Eternal Praise of the Horse' is performed in multiple shows, and many cultural, museum, and tourist attractions are extending nighttime operating hours, enriching nighttime cultural and tourism offerings. Major commercial districts are simultaneously ramping up activities, with red song flash mobs, traditional Chinese-style parades, theatrical flash mobs, and interactive scenarios being performed in turn. Coupled with dining vouchers for the public and integrated cards covering agriculture, animal husbandry, tourism, sports, and commerce, the aim is to connect the chains of sightseeing, dining, accommodation, and cultural and creative consumption.

From historic old streets to vast grasslands, from cultural and museum exhibitions to urban commercial districts, diverse activities not only inherit the excellent traditional culture of northern Xinjiang but also meet the new leisure and vacation needs of the public. This National Day, Hohhot is leveraging the integration of culture and tourism to enrich the public's spiritual and cultural life, unleash the city's consumption potential, and sincerely invite visitors from all directions to enter the frontier green city to enjoy a relaxed holiday that combines culture and fireworks.
