SpaceX Starship makes its first orbit on the 14th test flight

Successfully reached Earth's orbit for the first time and deployed 26 third-generation Starlink satellites; a pale blue light band appeared in the live broadcast, sparking UFO discussions, with no official explanation from any space agency yet.

Starship test flight shows blue light streak, sparking UFO speculation; experts say lack of evidence makes it difficult to prove an alien mothership

Editor's View:

I tend to believe that extraterrestrial life exists in the universe, but the blue light band that appeared in this Starship flight live broadcast is far from constituting the so-called 'conclusive evidence of an alien mother ship.' The footage is indeed striking, but the actual distance between it and the camera is unknown, and it is completely impossible to determine its true scale from a single perspective alone.

On September 28th, Starship's 14th test flight successfully reached Earth's orbit for the first time and smoothly deployed twenty-six third-generation Starlink satellites. However, due to anomalies in some engines during the flight, the originally planned ten-hour mission was cut short.

At about seven minutes and fifty-five seconds into the flight, some viewers noticed a thin, slightly curved pale blue streak of light appearing against the deep space background behind the starship, with a relatively clear white light spot at its end.

The footage was quickly captured and widely circulated. Some immediately claimed to have 'witnessed a UFO,' some speculated that its shape resembled a mothership, and others said its size could be comparable to that of a city. There were also views that it might have been caused by reflections from the International Space Station.

But the problem is that with just this single frame of live footage, it is neither possible to determine the relative distance between the target and the observation equipment, nor to reconstruct its motion state and physical properties. Any inferences about size, identity, or intent lack a verifiable basis.

As of now, relevant space agencies have not issued any official statement regarding this phenomenon. This means that whether it is interpreted as residual propellant gas emitted by spacecraft or identified as a flying object of extraterrestrial intelligent beings, it remains at the level of speculation and has not received any substantial support.

Believing in the possibility of extraterrestrial life is fundamentally different from directly equating a vague image with an alien visit. The former is based on a rational understanding of the vastness of the universe and the universality of chemical laws; the latter must rely on repeatable, analyzable, and cross-verifiable observational data.

The scale of the universe far exceeds human daily experience—the Milky Way is just a speck of dust in the vast sea of stars, and within the observable universe, there are still hundreds of billions of galaxies. It is obviously not rigorous to conclude that Earth is a unique case just because we have not yet confirmed the existence of other life forms; similarly, jumping to highly specific conclusions based solely on an image that lacks fundamental parameters also goes against the basic principles of scientific thinking.

That blue streak of light—was it the brief manifestation of rapidly diffusing low-temperature gas under sunlight, or some phenomenon not yet understood? Its appearance reminds us that on the journey of exploring deep space, we must maintain an open curiosity while also adhering to the boundaries of caution.
